Welcome to ‘Artisans and the Craft Economy in Scotland, c. 1780-1914’.  This Leverhulme funded project will investigate the world of artisans and crafts in Scotland, demonstrating that the craft economy was not destroyed by industrialisation, instead it adapted and changed.

This website will highlight some of the main themes of the project, keep you up to date with our events and provide links to contemporary craft workers currently active in Scotland.

For further details about the project please contact Professor Stana Nenadic at stana.nenadic@ed.ac.uk.
